World Water Day - March 18, 2018
Two posters were designed for the World Water Day Research Luncheon held at the Ohio State Faculty Club Grand Lounge. An initiative of the United Nations, World Water Day focuses attention on the importance of water. The project focused primarily on poster design as a method to create awareness of the global issue of Water-Wellness-Wellbeing. Considering water, one realizes how something that seems so simple and embedded in our culture carries great weight in the world. Water touches all forms of life, and without water the world we know could not exist.
The concept behind my design was to emphasize the contrast between water’s meaning in first-world countries and developing nations. The poster on the left highlights how water is a source of power and has provided fundamental needs to establish developed civilizations. The poster on the right retracts from the concept of water’s relation to power. The design captures the inequity of water’s distribution and water technologies across the globe.
